Last Sunday we went to Harald and Silvia's house for a brunch. Silvia went crazy and had a massive feast prepared for us when we arrived. Besides the food on the table, she had also made a vegetable beef stew and it was incredible! It's been several months since we've all been in town at the same time. We've all been traveling and keep missing each other! At the end of this month, two more Americans (Stan and Barbara) will move back to the States, so we were happy to spend some quality time together.
On top of all the great food Silvia had prepared, Mollie made me a birthday cake. . . from scratch! She had purchased some dulce de leche in Argentina and used it in and on my cake. Dulce de leche is like heavenly carmel. So, she made a layered white cake with the carmel yumminess in between the layers. Then she made a carmel buttercream frosting that covered the cake and decorated it with more dulce de leche on top. I gladly ate my fair portion!! Thank you Mollie! The cake was fabulous!!
We spent several hours with the ex-pats and then waddled home, tummies satisfied!!
