CINCILINGUA. . .

Language training was held in Cincinnati for almost 2 weeks. I'd like to say we had fun, but it was actually pretty challenging and difficult. Kevin and I were both running on very little sleep so our minds weren't able to focus like we had hoped. However, both teachers said Kevin was one of their best students ever! Uziel, my morning teacher, has 20 brothers and sisters!! He's number 16, so he told many stories that I could relate to! My afternoon teacher was a woman, Marta, and she had the most soothing voice. She also spoke very slowly. . . part of the reason I fell asleep on the first day! That's why I started drinking two Americanos a day!! I wish I could say I learned a ton, but I don't feel like I did. I probably retained more than I think, but it's so hard to pull from my brain right now. All I can think to say is Oi (Hi) and Obrigada (Thank you). I should be able to recall more than that after 2 weeks! I'll keep practicing!

My teacher. . . Uziel. Our group after a break.

Emma had fun walking through the tulips. Kevin's teacher, Paulo.
We took a break every morning to stretch and walk around. However, it was not a break from the language. Our teachers were still with us and taught us the names of things like street, park, stoplight, flowers, building, flag, bricks, barber shop and more. It was exhausting to be learning something new from 730am to 330pm! I was able to take a break during the second week. I actually left class at 1pm so I could take Emma back to the hotel for a nap. I needed the afternoon to decompress a little. I ended up taking a nap almost every day!! Well, we're in the country now, so I guess I'd better keep practicing! Tchau for now!
