John Deere Horizontina. . .

I love our cute little car:) Emma likes that it has a John Deere symbol on it!

On Tuesday, Emma and I went with Kevin to the factory to get some paperwork done. Our new friend, Ivan, has been helping us a ton! He speaks almost perfect English and is currently our translator. I just returned from meeting him and Kevin at the bank. He translated everything for us to get a bank account set up. Anyway, once we arrived at Deere, we realized that I couldn't go in with Emma. None of the Deere factories allow children under 16 inside. We sat in the lobby for 20 minutes and then decided to walk around outside. I had my camera with me (surprise, surprise) so I took a few shots of the new place. I was especially interested in the mass amounts of motorcycles, mopeds and bicycles! The weather is pretty nice year-round, so tons of people ride instead of drive to work! I can't wait to post a picture of Kevin riding his new moped to work (if he actually buys one!) We'll only buy one car, which will be nice. Actually, the car above is on loan to us from the company. Cute, huh?!
HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT: I drove to John Deere alone with Emma yesterday!!! Kevin went to work with his boss and needed to be picked up for lunch. Two reasons this was a huge accomplishment: 1. I haven't driven a stick shift car in about 10 years, and even then, it was very, very little! I was slightly intimidated. There are many hills here, and my fear was that I'd get caught going uphill and kill the car:) 2. As of yesterday, I'd only lived here for 2 days and I wasn't quite sure how to even get to the factory! I prayed as I put Emma in her carseat: Lord, please keep us safe and keep me from wrecking the car the first time I'm in it! Oh, and please help me find my way to the factory:) I had 10 minutes. WE MADE IT!!! I pulled into the John Deere parking lot and into our parking space, without killing the car!!! Kevin walked out the door with a smile on his face, as if to say, "I'm impressed!" I drove him back to the hotel for lunch, beaming the whole way! Anyway, it was a great accomplishment. Oh, as a part of moving here, I decided months ago that we'd buy a manual and not an automatic car. I'm not comfortable with a manual, but I felt like it would be a challenge and I wanted to learn something new. Maybe it sounds simple to those who know what they're doing, but for me, it's kind of scary. That's one little challenge I'm up for. Yay for getting through the first drive!
