Yes, babe, I'm blogging it! Kevin traveled to Porto Alegre (POA) on Sunday afternoon. Emma and I were alone for supper, so we decided to eat in the hotel dining room. Sometimes the wait can be a little long for Emma, so I took half of an avocado with us to buy some time. I had the knife out, ready to cut into the skin, when I noticed markings. At first I thought, Grrr. . . some crazy bug has crawled into our refridgerator and has been eating my precious avocado!! Then I looked closer. I looked again. Seriously?? Does that say what I think it says? I'm not sure what others think, but yes, Kevin, that counts as romantic in my book! Maybe I was a little too excited, though. I tried (in my broken Portuguese) to tell Andresa (who was serving that night) what had happened and why I was smiling so endearingly at my avocado! Then I fed Emma most of the avocado and saved enough of it to take a picture. As we were leaving the dining room, another couple, Harald and Silvia (a German couple who are moving here from the Quad Cities) walked in to eat. I was still pretty excited about the message in the avocado, so I showed them too. Yes, Kevin, everyone knows now! I love you too!!
Emma got her first tattoo today! She was so excited about it! Thanks, Linda, for introducing her to tattoos! I'm sure her daddy will love you for it! Emma's Aunt Linda sent her some tattoos and stickers in the mail for her birthday. She's been using the stickers, but today was the first day we had a chance to do tattoos. I really do have a lot of fun doing "girly" things with Emma. I'm excited for the weather to warm up so we can paint her toenails again.
Emma has big girl underwear!! She's soooo excited about her pretty panties! Every time she sees them she says, "Oh my doodness, petty panties, Mama!" Every time she wears them, she keeps them dry!! Yay for pretty panties!! Oh, FYI, she's not potty-trained. She's doing a great job, but we've been running around so much that it's been difficult for her mom to remember to put her on the potty:) Soon. . . yes, soon, because diapers here are ridiculously expensive and pretty panties are just fun!
Last week we were invited to a birthday party for the wife of one of Kevin's colleagues. Sonia, on the far left has been so friendly and helpful during our time here. Fernanda, next to me, is 16 and she speaks English very well. She has been my interpretor several times and is really excited about learning the language. Her father also works with Kevin. Luciana, in the pink, also speaks English very well. I really enjoy talking to her. She and her husband are moving in July and we are hoping to move into their home! I can't remember the name of the woman second from the right, but her husband is Jonas and he's the factory manager here. Vera, on the far right, is Fernanda's mom and she is married to Roberto, who also works closely with Kevin. Vera owns a daycare/preschool and I've been told a few times that Emma is welcome there. We had a fun night of eating and learning Portuguese!

OK, that's stinkin' cute of Kevin to do! VERY creative, to say the least!
Are those the tattoos that glow in the dark? I'm glad she got to wear them...Do they sell tattoos over there? I'd be happy to keep you supplied with them ;-)
I just KNEW you'd make the most of your time there and you are!!It sounds like Emma is just taking off like crazy. We never see the baby next door - the grass is too long - they don't come out to play like Sandi and Emma did. We miss you guys and will check in often.
That is SOOOOO sweet!!!! Aww!!!!
Well, in Brazil, showing " love" and affection is ok. Looks like you both are adapting well! Heh, heh!
