Now THAT'S a Rack. . .

Last week we attended three churasscos. Three. That's a lot of food!! Saturday we went to Hamilton and Sonia's to celebrate their son's 25th birthday. They had been preparing the ribs for about 6 hours (I think) and it was quite the feast once they were finished! I'm not a huge fan of red meat, but this was just pretty! You can almost taste the meat just by looking at the pictures! Andre, their son, was full of smiles the entire night. He just seemed genuinely happy about life and especially about his ribs. I think he ate four or five!!
The birthday boy and his ribs. . .
When we came to visit Horizontina in December, Andre was also here visiting his parents. Whenever he and Kevin are in the same house, there will be some jamming going on. Andre and Kevin play a lot of Eric Clapton, The Beatles, and Simon and Garfunkel. It's the best entertainment in the town!

Massive amounts of food adorned the tables! Sonia makes an awesome eggplant salsa and she served that with crackers and fun pretzel-like sticks. The salad had fresh tomatoes, pineapple and mango in it and then there was a fruit tray with kiwi, mango, papaya, and pineapple. As if she hadn't made enough food, she remembered that Emma doesn't chew meat real well (or even like it for that matter), so she made spaghetti noodles with fresh broccoli, garlic and olive oil and a side of grilled chicken. I was so tempted to eat Emma's meal, but she didn't need any help. . . she ate every last bite on her plate!

I think Grandma was a little sleepy after all the food. I was too!

Du-du (short for Eduardo) is learning to play the guitar. He had his own little guitar with him and was so excited to play with the adults. He was so shy and quiet, but I think he was smiling a huge smile inside!! Kevin always gets really excited when he sees kids playing guitar. It's a great instrument to learn to play and at least for Kevin, it's also a fun hobby!! One difference in our lives here is that he has a lot of time and opportunities to play. I love that he gets to practice and increase his knowledge. He has an incredible gift and I'm proud of him for honoring God with that gift.

Looks like a fun feast!! I think I feel like Grandma quite frequently after eating large meals! :) Glad Kevin has someone to jam with too. We miss his jamming!!
