Another Reason I Love Him. . .

He teaches our daughter things.
He teaches her how to build really cool towers.
He teaches her to count in creative ways.

Then, he thinks of really fun challenges, like how to delicately place teeny tiny trains in the tiny spaces of the really cool tower.

Oh, and then he teaches her how to karate-chop the tower.
One day I came home from running with Mollie. There was a long piece of yarn attached to the ceiling in one room and the dining room chair in another room. "Mommy, I learned about propulsion today." (Propulsion - the act of propelling). Kevin had somehow attached a balloon to the string, aired it up (without tying it) and then let it go, thus propelling it from the ceiling to the chair, along the string. I'm still teaching her things like letters and numbers and my engineering husband is teaching her about propulsion. I love him!
THE AIR PUMP
Saturday morning, I went into my scrapbook room to journal. I told Kevin I needed some time alone, so he took Emma out to the garage. I could hear everything they were saying and doing, so I quickly finished my journaling and grabbed my camera. He had her collect all the flat balls around the house and garage and then he taught her how to use the air pump.
She looks like a contestant on The Price is Right, spinning the big wheel! I mean, she really gets into the action of pumping the air!!

I stood in the doorway for a long time, just observing. A million thoughts ran through my mind. He's teaching her life skills! Something so simple as airing up a ball about brought me to tears! While I'm teaching and training and meeting basic needs and protecting and saying "Be Careful!!" a hundred times a day, my husband is teaching her life skills. He's always challenging her to try new things and to do more on her own, while I tend to do things for her. I love watching him teach her. She loves learning from him. I had a quick future picture in my mind of him teaching her how to change a flat tire when she's 16. I loved watching them interact for those few minutes. Emma asked her daddy a question. He responded. He showed her how to use the pump and then gently challenged her to do it on her own, all the while encouraging her. He's such a great daddy. I'm so thankful we're in this together!!

Oh, I'm not the only one who thinks he's great.
She thinks he's pretty special too.
