The day before Easter, we took Emma to the park in Moundridge for an Easter egg hunt. GMow, the giant grasshopper, was there to welcome us. GMow is the mascot for Grasshopper Mowers, which are manufactured in Moundridge. (They also sponsored the egg hunt.) After he greeted us, we realized GMow had been a high school classmate of Kevin's. We stood talking to him for quite a while before we realized how silly it must have looked. We were having a completely normal conversation with a giant grasshopper.
We had a really fun morning with Emma. She had a blast picking up the not-so-hidden eggs. I think her favorite part was opening the eggs. She's not as interested in what's inside as she is the process of figuring out how to open the eggs! When we were leaving, a little boy showed up with his grandma. They were about half an hour late, so the boy totally missed out on the hunt. We encouraged Emma to share her eggs with the boy. She was reluctant and even talked about missing some of her eggs on the way home, but she did it. A few weeks later she remembered helping the boy and said she was glad he was able to have some eggs. He was pretty happy too!
