Emma put this flag together. It's so telling of who she is. She all American, with a big chunk of Brazil thrown in there. She's now lived here for thirty-seven months and in the U.S. for twenty-three months. Although she knows she's an American, I'm not sure her little mind can wrap around who she is inside. I hope I can be sensitive to her as we uproot her from the only home she remembers. From here on, she'll always have a little bit of Brazil in her.
And less interesting, but weird, are the salad tongs I found under her pillow one morning. Salad tongs? Really? I'm not even sure where to start asking questions on that one.
And my favorite tidbit for now. Emma Jae LOVES her baby sister, especially now that Adri is smiling and giggling so much. She talks to her and tells her what she can and cannot do. She tells her about her day at school and holds her hands and gives her toys to play with. She's been an awesome big sister. What an incredible little girl she is!
