Iguazu Falls - Argentina

Finally, a beautiful, sunny day! Perfect for visiting Argentina!

After several days of rain, the giant lizards decided to get out and sun themselves. We've never seen them at the park, so this was exciting for us!! We often see these lizards around Horizontina, only on the hot, summer days, though. They literally make me almost have an accident, but they're really pretty harmless. I hear they eat the snakes, which is good, right?

Mama hanging out with her baby. . . so sweet.

I love the Argentina side of the falls. While standing on the Brazil side, the overall view is just incredible, but when you're on the Argentina side, you get a close-up of the falls. The sound of the rushing water is powerful and the rainbows are just beautiful. The people who built the walkways around the falls deserve a lot of credit. Most of the falls wouldn't be visible were it not for the man-built bridges that connect them all. There are over 275 falls in all!!

Above: Proof to our next child that she was there!!

Probably my favorite view of the falls is standing at the Devil's Throat, the largest waterfall that makes up Iguacu Falls. I feel like I'm watching a movie when I stand at the railing. The force of the water makes my head swim and I have to take a step back. I love that we got to share this experience with family!! It was our last day with Steve and Maggie and the boys. We hiked around and wore the kids out. All four of them fell asleep on the way back to Brazil. We surprised them by taking them all out for ice cream at a fun place in the city. Needless to say, they were pretty happy when they woke up from their naps!! After dinner, we played some more Rook (a Schrag must when we get together) and then packed our bags.

The next morning, we took Emma's cousins and their parents to the airport. They flew back to Rio and then on to the U.S. We were back in our home that afternoon and they were traveling until the following afternoon. One of the many joys of having people come visit us is not having to travel very far to get home!! We are SO happy they were able to make it here to see Brazil and spend time with us!! What an awesome time we had!!!
