Some day I'll devote more time to this subject, but for now, I just have a few pictures to share. Emma is in Kindergarten!!! She loves her teacher and seems pretty excited about school in general. If someone had told me a year ago that I'd be homeschooling, I don't think I would have believed it. But, here we are! At the end of October last year, I felt very certain that God was leading me towards homeschooling. We didn't know when we'd be moving back to the U.S. and I knew I'd need to do something, as the education in Brazil isn't quite at the same level as here. (Emma's classmates in Brazil were just learning their letters. . . she was reading). Well, we made the choice, bought the curriculum, and then found out we were moving back here in June. Between the move, temporary living, buying a house, and all the other transitions over the last several months, I am SO thankful that we decided to teach Emma at home this year. We also found out that her elementary school had closed enrollment for this year because they had reached their limit! She couldn't have gone to her school anyway! I'm thankful I didn't have to consider putting her on a bus to a school somewhere further away. Anyway, we're about 1/4 of the way through the year and some day I'll write about it all. Not every day has been easy, but every day has been rewarding. She loves drawing and writing on her easel. She loves spelling, reading and math. She loves doing science activities with her dad. She loves getting to play with her baby sister whenever she wants. I love getting to hang out with her all day. More on this later. . .

My best friend homeschools 4 of her 5 kids (the youngest is Trey's age). She does her chores or workout in the morning, and then it's school for the afternoon. She does get behind sometimes when they travel, but it's well worth it for their family. I've even told her I would pay her to homeschool my kids! HA! Good luck with it. I think it's great that you made that decision, and it sounds like God was really leading it the whole time.
I bet Emma does love her teacher! Great job...you are a champ! Glad you are in the "swing" of things.
