Cristiano and Leandro
Balestrin (his first name is Andre, but I didn't know that for 3 years)
These three Brazilian men worked with Kevin in Horizontina. We found out they were going to be in the U.S. so we had them over to hang out after work. Balestrin was here a few weeks after the other two. Seems like there are always Brazilians visiting the U.S. for work. One comment we heard while living there was that very few of them had ever been inside an American home. I think, in general, Americans are just too busy to think about inviting foreigners into their homes. We're trying to make it a point to do that more often. Once a week, I have a Brazilian woman come over with her daughter for English classes. Emma plays with her daughter and I teach the mom English. After an hour of lessons, I try to just spend time with her and not think about all the unimportant things I have to do. It's been really fun for me and reminds me of the time I spent in their country. Life was less busy there and people were more important. It's easy to lose sight of that truth here. We'll keep working on it. . .
