Birthday Girl. . .

May 17th has come and gone for the sixth time since it became an important date in our lives! Six years! Wow. It just keeps getting better and better!
One of Emma's requests was for a balloon that said, "Happy Birthday" on it. She was ecstatic to wake up to several helium balloons and then she was even more excited to see the decorations in the kitchen when she came downstairs! I loved watching her face as she took in her surroundings.
She requested fruit smoothie and pumpkin muffins for breakfast, both of which she downed in no time!
We love her so much! She's growing in so many ways and I'm so proud of who she is! I am amazed at how deeply I love her and at how much she is changing my life! What an incredible gift she is!
We made a trip to the Children's Museum for Emma's birthday. It's been remodeled since we were there last and I was thoroughly impressed. I didn't take very many pictures, but it was awesome. Even Adri had a blast! The first thing Emma did was make and serve me pizza. She could have done that for an hour, but I helped her move on so she could experience more.

The water area was a favorite of hers and Adri's both. Playing in water is so much fun and I love that they created this area for the kids! There's also an outdoor play area where the kids can get wet and run around in the sun. We spent the last half hour outside playing and it might have been Emma's favorite part of the whole museum!
One of the greatest surprises of her day was getting to see her friend Mary at the Children's Museum. They ran around together and had so much fun! Emma was beaming the entire time!
Block-building with Adri. . .
Gifts, gifts, gifts!!
Unfortunately, shortly after we left the Children's Museum, Emma vomited in the parking lot of Michael's. It was like a switch had flipped! She was playing hard and having fun with Mary and then the second we got in the car to go home, she suddenly didn't feel well. I thought it was strange and didn't really believe her. Then she almost covered me in vomit. Then I believed her. It was kind of a bummer of an afternoon for her. She spent it on the couch, getting up only to get some water and take a few trips to the bathroom. We made her get up to blow out the candles on her Brazilian birthday cake, but she didn't even have a bite of it!
One of our Brazilian friends had asked me if she could make Emma a birthday cake. Of course I let her do it, but later I was thinking about it and realized that someone else had made Adri's birthday cake! Huh. I didn't make or buy a cake for either of my girls this year!
It took Emma a few days to get over whatever bug she had. She never did eat her birthday cake. Kevin and I ate over half of it and then I put some in the freezer for her. It was an awesome cake. Every bite reminded me of the delicious cakes I used to eat at Zelandia's in Horizontina! It was filled with chocolate and sweetened condensed milk. I couldn't stop eating it! Poor Emma. . . there she was feeling awful on the couch and her mama was back in the kitchen eating her birthday cake! She opened her gifts, but I could tell she just couldn't appreciate them because of how horrible she was feeling. I was so sad for her. Since then, she's been way more excited about her gifts, but that evening was just not fun. She didn't eat dinner and she was asleep before 8pm. Happy 6th Birthday Emma Jae!! We'll have to make up for that day sometime soon!
