We made it to Moundridge late Friday night. This morning we left the sleeping girls and drove to Manhattan and are now in Chicago awaiting our flight to Berlin. For the first time in her almost-sixteen months, Adri woke up this morning without me. To this day, I haven't left her even for a night! A few hours here and there, but never for a full day! Now we won't see each other for ten days! I might worry a whole lot more, but after seeing her with her grandparents yesterday, I'm just really not all that concerned.
These are the kinds of things the girls will get to do while visiting their grandparents! Emma's ridden the four-wheeler before, but yesterday was Adri's first time. I think she liked it! It helps that she loves her grandpa!
After walking around the property, Kevin took me to the barn to show me something. When we entered, we saw several little balls of fur scurry away behind the hay bales. We hollared at Emma and she came running. She was ecstatic to hold these baby kittens and it didn't take her long to start naming them. I recently read Charlotte's Web to her, so I said, "Oh, you're like Fern with Wilbur!" Immediately, she decided she needed to name one of the kittens Fern. Later she named another one of them after her friend Rebekah. I thought I counted six, but for the rest of the day, the most we saw was five. They are so adorable. I'm not a fan of cats; in fact, I despise them. Kittens are a whole different story. Even I loved these cute little furballs! I'm not naive enough to think that they won't grow up into cats, but I have a feeling I'll be challenged to take one back to Iowa with us in a few weeks.
While the girls are spoiled in Kansas, Kevin and I are going on a little trip! It's the first time we've been alone together since Emma was 18 months old. I'd say it's about time!!
