I love being a mom. I love my daughter. I love my husband.
I had a great Mother's Day. I mean, really great. My husband made French toast for breakfast. The reason he could make French toast is because some sweet runner brought us Maple flavoring. So, not only did he make French toast, he made the syrup from scratch!! He's awesome like that. He didn't have the option of running to the store to pick up a bottle of Mrs. Butterworth. . . they don't sell syrup here! That's OK now, though, because we have 3 bottles of Maple flavoring with which to make our own syrup. So there!
After stuffing myself full of the yummy French toast, I met Mollie for a 6-mile run. At one point during our run, she said, "This is your Mother's Day gift to you." I agreed and then realized that by running and taking care of me, I was also giving a gift to Emma (and Kevin for that matter). I'm not running to lose weight or even look better, although those can come naturally with running. I'm running to take care of me, to take care of my health and to be a better wife, mom, friend, etc. It's good therapy. It's a good challenge. It's just good. I'm thankful my husband is supportive and encouraging. I love hearing Emma say she's going for a 20-minute run. She's becoming more and more active these days, so I'd better keep running if I hope to keep up with her!!
After our run, Kevin and Emma to me to the hotel restaurant. They were serving a special buffet lunch with fish, which I'm a big fan of now, so that was awesome. We spent time outside because it was beautiful that day. Kevin made our bed (which is a big deal to me), cleaned the entire house, loved on me, loved on Emma, and then made supper. He had found tortillas in the city when he was traveling last week, so he made chicken and cheese quesadillas with homemade guacamole. Perfect end to a perfect day.
