Homeward Bound. . .

The week before we left Horizontina, we had a nice dinner with the JD staff and American ex-pats. There were some visiting JD Americans, too, and it was a fun evening out. One of the visiting Americans talked about the importance of family and especially the spouses who support the JD employees. We had a great dinner and a few laughs. During the meal and after the talks, a man was playing background music. Somehow Kevin was talked into performing and he played two songs. I was really proud of him. Most people who knew Kevin in college or even in Ottumwa know that he is an excellent musician. I've lived with his music for almost ten years and I love listening to him play and sing. However, there are may people in Brazil who just don't know how talented he is simply because he didn't have many opportunities to play outside our home. I loved his song choice, "Homeward Bound." It was very fitting and brought tears to my eyes, knowing that we'd be homeward bound the following week. I just sat staring at him while he sang. He's such an incredible man. I love that so many others were able to experience a different side of him that night.
